Chief's office


Chief James Holland began his law enforcement career 40 years ago, first as a patrolman with the Melrose Police Department, and then as member of Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Police Department, before finally joining the Malden Police Department in 1975.  He was promoted to sergeant in 1979 and attained the rank of lieutenant in 1983.  His wife, Maureen Holland, is a Malden Police Detective and his brother is retired Malden Public Schools Superintendent George Holland.  Chief Holland's father was a former Malden Police Sergeant, and his grandfather was a former Malden Police Lieutenant.
